Last weekend, we went back to Columbia to visit with our friend, Adam, who is in the Marines and just returned from Afghanistan. We also were able to celebrate my sister's 22nd birthday while we were there as well. Friday night, we got into Columbia around 10:30pm, dropped the dogs off at my parent's house and headed downtown to meet up with Adam and some of our other friends. It was so nice to see everyone! Saturday, we surprised my sister at Groucho's for lunch. YUM! Then we had a fish fry Saturday night for her birthday celebration with the family. Sunday, we went to Adam's parent's house for a little get together his parent's threw for him. It was such a fun weekend, and great to be able to hang out with our friends we haven't seen in a while!

The End of 5th Term...FINALLY!
Well, I can't believe it! I have made it to the end of my 5th semester of physical therapy school! 5th semester was quite the semester and extremely time-consuming/busy! But now that the semester is over, it means only 2 more semesters to go or 239 days until graduation, but who's counting? Unfortunately, I only get less than a week break before beginning internship. 6th semester of PT school consists only of 2 internships (meaning NO NECCESSARY STUDYING!). Hallelujah! I can't believe how fast school is going and that this time next year I'll be working as Shannon Hicks, PT, DPT :) Has a nice ring to it, don't you think? Here's an end of the term pic, with some of the girls!
And another later that night :)

July
The month of July has been super busy in the Hicks' household! The week of the 4th my family was here (a total of 12 people including me and Ryan), so we were set to entertain for the week! Here are a few pictures from the week:
After they left, school got really busy for me and I've been doing non-stop since then! Also, in that time my best friend, Nicole, celebrated her 30th birthday! I unfortunately was unable to attend her surprise birthday party due to being so busy with school. Here she is:
Now there are only 3 weeks of school left before I journey on to internships and then get closer to graduation!

Ryan's Birthday
The week of Ryan's birthday happened to be midterm week for me, so needless to say I wasn't the best wife on his birthday! I was at school all day on his birthday and worked at school until 10pm that night. So, I saw him for a total of 30 minutes on his actual birthday and I felt awful about it! So, the Saturday after his birthday we celebrated with friends at the Cheesecake Factory in Jacksonville! He also got a framed picture of the Carolina football stadium from me :)

Universal Studios/Island of Adventures with Lindsay and Clay
The first weekend of June, Lindsay and her boyfriend, Clay, came to St. Augustine to visit! They got here on Thursday night, and of course we went to A1A Aleworks for the tapping of their summer beer. Friday, Lindsay and Clay spent their day at the beach while Ryan and I were at school/work. I joined them at the beach when class was over! Friday night, we tried out a new seafood restaurant, the Outback Crab Shack. We did not have a great experience there because we ordered oysters to share and instead they served us clams instead! The waitress failed to mention they were out of oysters and just gave us clams anyway. Annoying! Saturday we spent the day at Universal Studios/Island of Adventures and had a blast! We hated they couldn't stay longer, but they will be back for the 4th of July along with the rest of the family! Here are some pictures from when they were here:

Life Lately with a Little Surprise
Well, my 5th semester of physical therapy school is under way! I can't believe I have less than a year (10 months and 15 days to be exact) until I will be a licensed doctor of physical therapy!!! HOLY COW! This semester is super busy, so needless to say I'm drowning in schoolwork. But, it will all be worth it in the end :)
Ryan, on the other hand, just started a new job at a law firm right beside my school so we are able to carpool and save on gas now! (YAY) He loves the job and everything is going well for him. He starts his summer classes next week so we will be super-duper busy.
So, last weekend Ryan and I decided to drive to South Carolina to surprise my mom for her birthday. I called Lindsay earlier in the week and let her know of our plans so she was the only one that knew. We left Friday afternoon when I got out of class. Lindsay was trying to stall my parents to go to dinner because we were only about 15 minutes away; however, she was unsuccessful. We actually passed my parents (and Lindsay and Clay) on the road, but luckily my parents didn't see us. Ryan and I dropped the dogs off at my parents house and then went to surprise them at the Flying Saucer, and boy were they surprised! It was such a fun weekend too!
We got to meet Lindsay's new boyfriend, Clay, who is such a sweet person. I'm so happy for Lindsay and Clay! We also celebrated my mom's birthday with some family and good southern cooking. Saturday, we spent the day by the pool and that was Shelby's first time in the pool. Sunday before we left, I took a ride with my dad on the Harley and had a blast! Here are a few pictures from last weekend:
